Summertime Smoothies!

photo 3

Growing up in Florida, summertime meant swimming every day, popsicles galore, and delicious smoothies! My mom would always have a bag of frozen fruit in the freezer ready to be blended into the most amazing smoothie. All through college I always had a Magic Bullet to keep my smoothie obsession going. I have started to notice more and more smoothie recipes all over Pinterest. When it comes to making smoothies, I usually find myself throwing WHATEVER frozen fruit I have into a blender! I love Planet Smoothie and Tropical Smoothie as much as the next girl, but I absolutely HATE paying $5 for a smoothie…therefore I have found myself experimenting more and more. I buy my frozen fruit from Publix, or if I have fresh fruit that is not going to be eaten fast enough I bag and freeze that. I figured I would share some of my most favorite creations with you all.

Okay. If you are looking for a REFRESHING and FRUITY smoothie this is the one for you!

Mason Jars are essential

Ingredients:

Frozen Strawberries- I use anywhere from 6-8 frozen strawberries

Frozen Peaches- I use about 6-10 peach slices

Unsweetened Almond Milk- 1 cup (more or less as needed)

Watermelon- a few chunks of fresh watermelon

Honey- I use this as a sweetener. I just pour a little in (I would say about a tablespoon)

Blend and ENJOY! The Watermelon really gives this smoothie that refreshing burst!

Are you a brave soul ready to try a GREEN smoothie, that doesn’t taste too GREEN? Try THE DAISY (named after my good friend Daisy who taught me this recipe.

Ingredients:

PB2 Chocolate- This is the best invention ever, powdered peanut butter chocolate powder (protein and fewer calories) I use 2 tablespoons

Kale: 1-2 Ice Cubes of Kale -> I blend my kale and then freeze the juice into cubes.

Strawberries: Frozen 6-8

Banana: I use one whole banana (you can also use half)

Unsweetened Almond Milk: 1 cup (more less as needed)

Honey: 1 tablespoon

Blend and Enjoy

Yummm! These smoothies sound so good! Frozen fruit literally does not exist in Madrid. Can’t wait to make some smoothies when I move back home. 🙂
