My hair has gotten quite so long in the past few months. A little too long for the hot Florida summer that is about to arrive. I stumbled upon this picture of Emma Stone and fell in love with her hair cut. I decided pretty spontaneously to make a hair appointment.
Growing up and seeing the effects chemo can have on cancer patients always left me wishing I could donate my hair. I never seemed to let my hair grow long enough until now. I found an organization Pantene Beautiful Lengths which makes wigs for women who lose their hair because of cancer. The main reason I chose this organization is because it only required 8 inches, as opposed to 10. The more research I did, the more I supported my decision. It is completely FREE for cancer patients to receive wigs. The wigs are created by volunteers. Their slogan is Hair to Us, Hope to Them. I could not agree more with this statement.
I was EXTREMELY nervous when I went in to the salon. I came prepared with all the directions and a ruler to double check the length. My hairstylist Cindy has been cutting my hair since I was 5, so I trusted her with my hair. She measured out about 8 separate pony tails and then started cutting. SNIP SNIP SNIP! Just like that the hair was gone.
I wanted to throw up and cry all at the same time. My hair was so SHORT. Shorter than I expected. I was entering panic mode, but leave it to Cindy to take my panic and leave me with a nice hair cut.
I kept reminding myself that it is ONLY hair. Hair will grow back. As I type this I have to admit it has started to grow on me. I think it will be the PERFECT cut for summer!!
before and after! Bye bye LONG hair!
