Class was actully reallly interesting today! I bet you never thought you would hear me say that!! In our first class we learned all about Bullying…which needless to stay was very depressing but at the same time very informative. I believe that as a teacher I am responsible for creating a safe enviornment for my students. In the next class we talked about racisim, and our teacher played a video about a teacher in 1968 that separated her class based on eye-color for a 2 day experiment. On the first day the Blue Eyes were superior to the Brown eyes and the next day it was reversed. Each day the inferior students experienced what it felt like to be discriminated against. All the students agreed that judging someone based on the color of their skin is wrong and they would never want to experience it. I felt like this was a very effective experiment because the children were able to “walk a mile in someone else’s shoes” but at the same time I don’t think I would be able to implement this in my classroom because the teacher that did the original experiment was VERY intense. Biffle’s favorite quote from day 2 (Brown eyes superior) “Obviously the blue eyes are not smart…just look at Brian” Here the teacher called out a boy sitting in the back of the classroom. I do not think I would be able to single out students and say negative things to them…especially not after learning about the consequences of bullying in school!
After those intesnse morning classes I had my LAST mentoring session…but my mentee rescheduled for tomorrow…joy!
This afternoon I got to go see my Twin’s new puppy Cooper…honestly the cutest puppy ever!
This little guy loves to sleep all the time! He is seriously the calmest puppy I have ever seen…while I was there he slept, or chewed on my purse! haha! Twin’s other dog Abby is VERY jealous of the new puppy…Abby is usually very shy and never comes near me, but today she was ALL over me. As you can see this puppy is absolutely ADORABLE so I took a ZILLION pictures and I couldn’t pick just one so I am going to share one more…I love this one of Twin and Cooper!
